Small Group Christian Book & Bible Study
In the Spring of 2004, Churchville Presbyterian Church had a six week study of Rick Warren's book, "The Purpose Driven Life." This book was studied by six small groups (6-10 people) and Pastor Condro gave a coordinated sermon series. The study culminated with a celebration luncheon where participants shared what they got out of the book, group discussion and sermons.
"The Purpose Driven Life" addresses three questions:
- Existence - Why am I alive?
- Significance - Does my life matter?
- Intention - What is my purpose?
Rick Warren says, "It is not about us. It is about God. God created us to love and to love Him. There are five primary purposes in our lives: worship, fellowship, becoming Christ-like, ministry, and mission." This book study and sermon series has helped many people to mature in the faith, to develop a closer personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to get to know and bond with other members of the church, and to evaluate how well they are doing in achieving God's purposes in their lives.
In the Fall of 2004 several small groups studied Max Lucado's book, "Next Door Savior." Max has an easy to read, down-to-earth writing style, yet conveys powerful truths about Jesus and our relationship with Him. More Bible and Christian book studies will be taking place at CPC.
