Prayer-ent
Our children need many people praying for them. So, adult members and friends of our congregation "adopt" a child in the church program and commit to pray for that child through the September-June Church School year. Suggested prayers are for the child's faithfulness, protection, wisdom, strength, thankfulness and receptiveness to Christian Education at home and at church.
Shhh! It's a SECRET! The adoptive prayer-ent receives a folder containing the child's picture and bio. The child does not know who his or her prayer-ent is until our Promotion Sunday program in June. During the program, children are introduced to their prayer-ents and have their pictures taken together. Prayer-ents are encouraged to send anonymous cards and notes to the child throughout the year to give encouragement and reminders that they are being prayed for on a regular basis. These anonymous notes also add to the "mystery."
Children also have the opportunity to send cards, notes and prayer requests to their prayer-ents by sending them through the Director of Christian Education, Nancy Gavin.
This ministry doesn't cost anything, doesn't take much time, require lesson preparation or church attendance every Sunday. The rewards are unknown, unseen, but tremendous.
